Dr. Jennifer Lapple Flute Studio
Members of the George Mason University, School of Music, Lapple flute studio enjoy a variety of musical and educational opportunities!
Students are active in ensembles, chamber music, private lessons, recitals and master classes within the university in addition to participating in community competitions, ensembles, teaching and performing opportunities.
Dr. Lapple works with music education majors, in particular, to secure positions teaching at the Judith Lapple Summer Woodwind Camp & Music Festival and in working with private students from her waiting list. This offers current students real-world teaching experience while pursuing their undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Music performance majors focus heavily on
technique, tone development and artistry
through varied performance opportunities
and required participation in competitions,
recitals, chamber and large ensembles.
Performance majors dedicate several hours
a day to practice and performance and
often pursue graduate degrees in music
Current GMU Students:
Dr. Lapple's current studio is comprised of
students pursuing degrees in music education, performance, composition and bachelor of arts. They are active members in the GMU Symphonic Band, Flute Choir, Baroque Ensemble, New Sound Collective and Wind Symphony.
Members of the Lapple studio have performed/competed in community competitions such as the Music Teacher's National Association Competition and the Flute Society of Washington, Mid-Atlantic Convention. Members of the GMU Flute Choir have performed in the Flute Choir Showcase at previous conventions and will perform this year as members of NOVAflutes. Within the community, students are active in local orchestras (Metropolitan Orchestra) and flute choirs (Woodbridge Flute Choir) and perform in master classes for renowned artists such as Gary Schocker, Erica Peel, Jeana Melili, Wendy Cohen and Nan Raphael. Additionally, students spend their summers continuing their musical studies as faculty at various summer festivals (JLSWC&MF; Interlochen) and performing Irish flute across the sea in Ireland (Go Helen!).
